Abstract:Intracranial mesenchymal tumors with FET-CREB fusion are rare central nervous system tumors. These tumors lack specific clinical manifestations and imaging features, making preoperative diagnosis difficult. Pathological examination is the only way to confirm the diagnosis. The pathological morphological spectrum of intracranial mesenchymal tumors with FET-CREB fusion is broad, and there are differences in histology among tumors with different fusion genes. Additionally, their immunophenotype lacks specificity, leading to confusion with other intracranial tumors, making diagnosis challenging. Molecular testing is required to confirm the characteristic FET-CREB fusion gene. FET-CREB gene fusion is considered a recurrent tumorigenic event that can drive tumor development. This article reviews the clinical pathological features, molecular genetics, differential diagnosis, and prognosis of this tumor, aiming to enhance the understanding of this tumor among clinicians and pathologists.
