Abstract:Objective To explore the application value of the secondary embedding method in the frozen section technique of sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer. Methods A total of 50 cases of sentinel lymph nodes from breast cancer patients were collected at The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from October to December 2024. A total of 273 lymph nodes with incomplete fat removal during the sampling process were selected and made into frozen HE sections. According to the different embedding methods, the frozen sections were divided into the control group and the experimental group. The control group used the conventional OCT embedding method, while the experimental group used the secondary OCT embedding method. The effects of the two embedding methods on the integrity and quality rate of the frozen sections were analyzed and compared. Results The structural integrity and quality rate of the frozen HE sections in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion The secondary embedding method has high application value in the frozen sectioning of sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer.
