Abstract:PAX9 (paired box 9) is a member of the PAX family I subgroup, widely expressed in normal human tissues. PAX9 regulates embryonic development and cell proliferation and apoptosis, playing multiple roles in embryonic development and disease progression. Recent studies have found that PAX9 expression differs from normal tissues in various malignant tumors such as breast cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, and cervical cancer, participating in the regulation of tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis, and being related to patient prognosis and tumor metastasis. This article reviews the regulatory mechanisms of PAX9 in tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis in various tumors such as breast cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, and oral cancer, as well as its research progress in cancer treatment and prognosis, aiming to provide references for exploring new therapeutic targets and prognosis evaluation in cancer.
