Abstract:Objective To explore the pathological characteristics of gastric amphicrine carcinoma(AC).Methods Clinical and pathological data of 3 patients with AC were collected.Their clinical and pathological characteristics were analyzed based on histopathological and immunohistochemical features, and relevant literature was reviewed. Results All 3 patients were male, aged 48 to 73 years. Two cases occurred in the cardia, and one case in the lesser curvature of the gastric angle.Microscopically, the tumor showed an organoid growth pattern and nested distribution within the same tumor cell population.Signet ring cells with intracellular mucus and visible nucleoli were observed.Extracellular mucus could be observed in certain areas of the tumor. The tumor cells expressed both neuroendocrine markers and related glandular markers, and AB-PAS staining showed positive cytoplasmic mucin in tumor cells. Conclusion Gastric AC is a malignant tumor with both neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine differentiation, and its diagnosis mainly depends on its unique morphological characteristics,as well as the use of immunohistochemical markers and special staining.
