Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical and pathological characteristics of spiradenoma of the skin. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical, morphological, and immunohistochemical results of 7 patients with cutaneous spiradenoma, and their clinical and pathological characteristics were reviewed in combination with literature. Results There were 7 patients with spiradenoma,3 males and 4 females,Age ranged from 38 to 69 years, with an average age of 52.4 years. The lesions were all located in the upper body(including 2 cases in the back,2 cases in the neck,2 cases in the upper arm,and 1 case in the shoulder). At low magnification, tumors were located in the dermis and grew in a nodular or lobulated manner; At high magnification, tumor cells were composed of two types of cells:dark cells that resemble basal cells in the periphery(smaller in volume, with round and deeply stained nuclei),and bright cells in the center(larger in volume, with oval and vacuolar nuclei, and visible eosinophilic small nucleoli). There was lymphocyte infiltration in the interstitium(7/7);Interstitial bleeding(3/7)and edema(2/7)were observed. No necrosis was observed.Immunohistochemistry showed epithelial and myoepithelial differentiation. Conclusion Spiradenoma lacks characteristic clinical manifestations, and its tissue morphology has distinctive features.Familiarity with its pathological characteristics can help distinguish it from malignant tumors.
