Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical and pathological characteristics and treatment process of mature cystic teratoma (MCT) of the ovary with histiocytic sarcoma (HS), in order to deepen the understanding of this disease. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical and pathological data of one case of MCT with HS, and relevant literature at home and abroad was reviewed and discussed. Results The patient was admitted to the hospital due to an abdominal mass for more than one month. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound suggested a large complex mass in the pelvic and abdominal cavity. Postoperative pathology diagnosed it as MCT with HS. After a follow-up of 10 months, the patient died due to widespread metastasis and multi-organ failure. Conclusion MCT with HS is rare, and there have been no reports in domestic and foreign literature so far. It is easily missed in preoperative diagnosis, and solid nodules within ovarian teratomas should be given serious attention.
