Abstract:Myoepithelial lipoma is a rare benign tumor composed of neoplastic mature fat components and normal salivary gland components, mainly occurring in the parotid gland. Bronchial myoepithelial lipoma is extremely rare, with only six cases reported in English literature. Clinically, it requires surgical treatment and exclusion of malignant tumors due to airway obstruction and atelectasis. This article reports one case: a 58-year-old female patient who was admitted for more than one month due to right upper lobe atelectasis found during physical examination. CT showed atelectasis and calcification of the right upper lobe with corresponding bronchial occlusion. Flexible bronchoscopy revealed a round mass about the size of a quail egg at the opening of the right upper lobe bronchus. The bronchoscopic biopsy failed to make a definitive diagnosis, but postoperative histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of bronchial myoepithelial lipoma. The patient recovered smoothly after surgery. This disease is rare, and clinical diagnosis may be challenging, requiring exclusion of more common malignant tumors. CT is the main diagnostic method, while endoscopic interventions such as bronchoscopy are the preferred treatment options.
