Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical features, histological morphology, immunophenotype, molecular changes, differential diagnosis and prognosis of 1 case of uterine inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(IMT).Methods The clinicopathologic data of a case of IMT admitted to Wujin Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University in June 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and the relevant literature was reviewed. Results A 45-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital due to the slow enlargement of a uterine mass.Microscopically, the tumor showed an infiltrating boundary, and the tumor cells were fusiform, with eosinophilic cytoplasm, long fusiform nuclei that displayed mild atypia, and without mitotic figures. The cells in some areas were densely arranged in bundles or matted patterns, while the cells in some areas were sparse, and the interstitium was mucoid and the interstitium was infiltrated with a large amount of lymphoplasmic cells.Tumor cells were positive for ALK,SMA,desmin,Caldesmon and CD10,and showed patchy positivity for p16.They were negative for CK,S100,CD34,CD117,and BCOR1.The p53 was of wild type, and Ki-67 proliferation index was about 5%.FISH test showed ALK gene rearrangement. Conclusion IMT is a unique intermediate interstitial tumor, most of which are inert, and a few can be seen to spread and/or relapse outside the uterus. The diagnosis requires a combination of histomorphology and immunohistochemistry, and molecular detection should be performed when necessary.
