Abstract:Objective To explore the expression of fatty acid-binding protein 3(FABP3)in colon cancer and its correlation with clinicopathological factors. Methods The expression level of FABP3 in colon cancer was analyzed by bioinformatics and immunohistochemistry to explore its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of colon cancer. Results Analysis of the GEPIA2 database showed that FABP3 expression was related to the TNM staging and prognosis(P<0.05);Results from the TCGA database indicated that FABP3 expression was closely related to TNM staging, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis in colon cancer patients(P<0.05),and significantly affected the prognosis of colon cancer patients(P<0.01);immunohistochemical staining showed that FABP3 expression was closely related to TNM staging(P<0.05)and significantly affected the prognosis of colon cancer patients(P<0.01);COX regression analysis indicated that high expression of FABP3 protein was an independent factor affecting the poor prognosis of colon cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusion Abnormal expression of FABP3 in colon cancer is associated with poor prognosis of the patients and may serve as a potential indicator for the treatment of colon cancer and for predicting patient prognosis.
