Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinical and pathological features, differential diagnosis, and prognosis of neural-muscular myoepithelioma (NMC). Methods A case of male breast NMC was reported with its clinical, pathological, and histological characteristics, and the literature was reviewed. Results The patient was male, with a breast mass that had been present for 3 years without significant enlargement. Ultrasound showed a hypoechoic mass in the left breast, which was not associated with the overlying skin. Microscopically, the tumor tissue consisted of bland spindle cells with moderate cellularity and rare mitotic figures. Focal well-differentiated smooth muscle bundles were observed. Immunohistochemical staining showed that spindle cells were positive for S-100, CD34, β-catenin, and Ki-67 positivity index was approximately 1%. Smooth muscle bundles were positive for SMA and Desmin. Conclusion NMC is a benign tumor, commonly occurring in the sciatic or brachial plexus nerves. Microscopically, it shows well-differentiated nerve fibers and muscle tissue, with the muscle tissue usually being skeletal muscle. It is rare for NMC to occur in the male breast with smooth muscle components.
