Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinicopathologie characteristics, immunophenotype, diagnostic characteristics, and key points for the differential diagnosis of pulmonary mixed squamous cell and glandular papilloma(MSCP),in order to improve the accuracy of pathological diagnosis. Methods Three surgical specimens of the MSGP were collected and examined using hematoxylin and ensin(HE)staining and immunohistochemical EnVision two-step stains.Histological morphology and immunophenotype were observed, along with a review of literatures. Results Microscopiclly, the tumors showed papillary growth with fibrovascular axis, covered mainly by squamous and glandular epithelium, with scattered goblet cells visible.Transitional areas between the two types of epithelium were observed, with inflammatory cells in the papillary stroma.Immunophenotype:both squamous and glandular epithelia expressed CK7 and CK5/6;squamous epithelium and basal cells expressed p40 and p63;glandular epithelium and basal cells expressed TTF-1;goblet cells expressed MUC5AC;Ki-67 was expressed only in the basal layer. Conclusion MSGP is a rare pulmonary tumor with atypical clinical features, difficult to diagnose through preoperative biopsy and intraoperative frozen section.Prognosis is favorable with timely and complete surgical resection of the tumor.
