Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinicopathological features of CD56-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)and explore the significance of CD56 expression. Methods The clinical data, pathological features, immunophenotype, and prognosis of 5 cases of CD56-positive DLBCL were retrospectively analyzed.PAX5 and CD56 immunohistochemical double staining was used to confirm CD56-positive expression. Results Three males and two females with a median age of 38 years were included. All cases occurred in extranodal sites, predominantly in the digestive system. One case showed multiple site involvement with lymph node metastasis, while four cases had no metastasis.Three cases showed centroblastic morphology, and two cases showed immunoblastic morphology.Three cases were of germinal center origin, and two cases were of non-germinal center origin. All cases expressed CD20 and BCL6,but not CD138.Ki-67 proliferation index was 70%-80%.PAX5 and CD56 double staining showed varying degrees of co-expression.Four cases with follow-up(23-158 months)were all alive. Conclusion CD56-positive DLBCL is characterized by early onset age, extranodal occurrence(mainly in digestive system),predominantly germinal center origin with high BCL6 expression, and relatively favorable prognosis.CD56 expression may be associated with biological behavior and prognosis of DLBCL,which needs further investigation.
