Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of ice mold on frozen section diagnosis of breast needle biopsy specimens. Methods Twenty cases of breast mass needle biopsy specimens were selected. An ice mold was made using ordinary glue, and the tissue was placed flat on the ice mold. The surface was covered with glue and then placed into a cryostat for freezing and sectioning. Results Compared with the traditional method of directly applying glue, using an ice mold for frozen sectioning of breast needle biopsy specimens resulted in better preservation of tissue structure, higher quality sections, and did not affect subsequent paraffin diagnosis or molecular testing. Conclusion The application of ice mold in rapid frozen section diagnosis during breast needle biopsy is simple to operate, requires no additional equipment or consumables, and provides good results. It can maximize the integrity of frozen sections of breast needle biopsy specimens, thereby improving the accuracy of intraoperative rapid frozen section diagnosis.
