Abstract:Objective To investigate and summarize the cellular and tissue structural variations that occur in pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma(PSP),and to evaluate the corresponding potential diagnostic pitfalls,as well as the strategies and methods for addressing th em.Methods Twenty-eight cases of PSP specimens that were surgically removed and pathologically confirmed were collected. The clinical characteristics and pathological histology of the cases were analyzed. Results Six kinds of PSP histiocytic variations were summarized, which were easily misdiagnosed as soft tissue sarcoma, lung papillary adenocarcinoma, inflammatory lesions, etc. Conclusion "Two cell types, four modes" is the main diagnostic basis and the ideal diagnostic state, and when we face some histological structural and cytological variations,it is still a huge diagnostic challenge that should attract our adequate attention. In addition to the above models, foam cell foci, mixed cell components, and papillary axis rich in cells or collagen are also diagnostic clues for PSP.Morphology, gross examination, and imaging should be comprehensively considered, and It is necessary to obtain sufficient sampling or full inclusion of the mass to search for diagnostic evidence.
