Abstract:Objective This study aims to explore the pathogenesis, clinicopathological characteristics, immunophenotype, and differential diagnosis of Chronic Histiocytic Intervillositis(CHI).Methods Five cases of CHI diagnosed between January 2018 and February 2024 were collected from Chongqing Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Changshou District Maternal and Child Health Hospital.Organize clinical data, observe its morphological characteristics and immunophenotype, and review the literature. Results All five cases of CHI were patients who had a miscarriage, and B-ultrasound all suggested embryonic arrest.Under the microscope, there was a mononuclear cell infiltration in the intervillous space with different degrees of fibrinoid deposition around the villi, and immunohistochemical markers of monocytes such as CD68,CD38,CD163,CD11C,HLA-DR were positive, indicating the presence of complement activation and inflammatory response. Conclusion CHI is a rare lesion closely related to adverse pregnancy outcomes.Pathological morphology combined with relevant immunophenotype can help identify it.
