Abstract:Objective The collection and management of biological samples are crucial to the long-term value of life science research. Ensuring the standardized and normalized sampling and management of surgical resection tissues in biobanks is essential for establishing traceable, standardized research resources. Methods This study reviewed the standardized sampling and processing procedures for pancreatic and colorectal tumor surgical resection tissues at the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, summarized experiences and shortcomings, and provided references for tissue sampling and management in biobanks. Results From November 2012 to April 2024, a total of 4,684 pancreatic tumor tissue samples and 3,381 colorectal tissue samples were collected in the hospital's biobank. Randomly selected samples underwent RNA quality testing, and the related storage conditions and satisfaction rates for research purposes all met the requirements. Conclusion Standardized sampling is key to determining whether a biobank can provide high-quality samples for basic research. Relevant standards should be strengthened through training and supervision.
