Abstract:Lymphoepithelioid-like carcinoma (LELC) is a malignant epithelial tumor characterized by a rich lymphocytic stroma. LELC occurring in the renal pelvis is rare, and differs from LELC in the nasopharynx, lung, etc., as it is not directly associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It lacks specific clinical manifestations, making preoperative diagnosis difficult. The definitive diagnosis relies on histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Histologically, the tumor cells show a nested, cord-like, or single-cell pattern, with local glandular structures. The stroma is rich in lymphocytes. Immunohistochemically, the tumor expresses urothelial markers such as GATA-3 and Uroplakin III, and EBER in situ hybridization is negative. We report a case of LELC in the renal pelvis, discuss its clinicopathological features, immunophenotype, and differential diagnosis to enhance awareness of this lesion among clinicians and pathologists.
