Abstract:After three years of training, clinical pathology residents need to master the histopathological diagnosis of common diseases in multiple subspecialties. Under the overall requirements of stratified progressive teaching, this training base has proposed the teaching concept of 'horizontal stratification and vertical integration'. 'Horizontal stratification' refers to stratifying the teaching content and objectives according to different grade levels; 'vertical integration' refers to organizing various teaching activities (technical skills training, small lectures, difficult case discussions, and English literature reading) around the knowledge system of each subspecialty in an orderly manner. This approach aims to integrate training from tissue sampling skills to the establishment of clinical pathological diagnostic thinking, thereby achieving the integration and improvement of knowledge and skills. After three years of exploration, this training model has been widely recognized by both teachers and students, with residents trained under this model showing significantly better performance than those in the control group trained without this model. Therefore, we believe that this teaching philosophy is of high homogeneity and strong systematicity, which is beneficial for enhancing the job competence of residents.
