Abstract:Objective To investigate the distribution and the impact of tumor-stroma ratio(TSR)and stromal lymphocyte infiltrating intensity(S-TLⅡ)on the prognosis of 107 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)in Hainan province. Methods One hundred and seven NPC patients from 131 patients who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected.Demographic, clinicopathological, and prognostic data were collected.Based on the percentage limit of 50%,NPC patients were divided into low-TSR group(≤50%)and high-TSR group(>50%).The relationships between TSR and S-TLⅡ to the disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)of NPC patients were analyzed. Results The 1-year,3-year,and 5-year OS rates for 107 NPC patients were 91.5%,76.4%,and 70.5%,while those DFS rates were 86.9%,68.2%,and 62.6%,respectively.There were 42(39.3%)cases in the low TSR group and 65(60.7%)cases in the high TSR group. The OS(45.2%vs.84.4%,P<0.001)and DFS(33.3%vs.81.5%,P<0.001)of the low TSR group were significantly lower than those of the high TSR group. Both univariate and multivariate analysis revealed that TSR and S-TLⅡ were independently associated with OS and DFS in NPC patients(P<0.05).Conclusion Low TSR and low S-TLⅡ are independent risk factors for poor prognosis of Hainan NPC patients and are correlated with S-TLⅡ,which can provide a reference for prognosis evaluation.
