Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics, molecular genetics, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of gastrointestinal amphicrine carcinoma(AC).Methods The clinicopathologic features of two cases of gastrointestinal amphicrine carcinoma in the Affiliated Xuancheng Hospital of Wannan Medical College were retrospectively analyzed and relative literatures were reviewed. Results The two patients were both elderly men.In case 1,the tumor was located in the sigmoid colon, and the cells were mainly signet-ring cells with fine chromatin and focal extracellular mucus. In case 2,the tumor was located in the antrum, and the cells were round or signet-ring,with large atypia, prominent nucleoli, and prominent mitotic figures.Immunohistochemical staining showed that both cases were positive for glandular and neuroendocrine markers, and D-PAS staining was positive. Conclusion Amphicrine carcinoma is a rarely malignant tumor with amphoteric differentiation, clinical easily misdiagnosed as low differentiated adenocarcinoma and signet ring cell carcinoma or mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine tumor. The tumor has its unique histological characteristics, immune phenotypic and molecular genetic changes,to whicl clinical physicians and pathologists should pay close attention.
