Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between the localization of HMGB2 protein in colorectal cancer and the clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of patients. Methods A total of 135 cases of colorectal cancer(CRC)tissues and clinical data from Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital from 2016 to 2020 were selected as subjects.Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression and localization of HMGB2 protein in CRC tissue and to analyze the relationship between the intracellular localization of HMGB2 protein and various clinical pathological parameters and prognosis in colorectal cancer patients. Results HMGB2 protein was localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm. The HMGB2 expression in the nucleus was closely related to poor differentiation, deep infiltration, accompanying lymph node metastasis and/or distant metastasis, and late TNM staging in colorectal cancer tissue, while its cytoplasmic expression may be the opposite(P<0.05).The overall survival and five-year survival rates of CRC patients with nuclear expression of HMGB2 protein were significantly lower than those with cytoplasmic expression and simultaneous expression of cytoplasmic and nuclear expression(P<0.05).Conclusion The nuclear expression of HMGB2 protein may contribute to the progression and poor prognosis of CRC.
