Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features, immunophenotype and differential diagnosis of oral carcinosarcoma. Methods The clinicopathologic data of 5 patients with oral cancer sarcoma were collected. The clinicopathological features, immunophenotype, differential diagnosis and follow-up result were analyzed, and the relevant literature was reviewed. Results Among the 5 patients,2 were males and 3 were females. The patients ranged in age from 50 to 66 years with average 59.6 years and median 58 years. The tumor sites were right submaxillary region, left maxillary sinus/left nasal cavity/left sinus, right submaxillary gland, left tongue abdomen and left parotid gland, all of which were admitted to hospital due to the discovery of mass. The tumor was surgically removed, and the size of the tumor was 1 cm×0.7 cm×0.5 cm~4 cm×3.5 cm×2 cm,and cancer and sarcoma were found under the microscope.Immunophenotypicaly, epithelial markers were positive in malignant epithelial regions and positive in mesenchymal regions. All the 5 patients underwent surgical resection of the tumor at the primary site, including 2 patients receiving lymph node dissection,3 patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, and 1 patient receiving chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy.4 patients were lost or temporarily lack of the ability to communicate after surgery. Conclusion Oral carcinosarcoma is a rare oral malignancy, and its diagnosis depends on immunohistochemistry. At present, there is no effective treatment, usually surgical resection with radiotherapy/chemotherapy.
