Periductal stromal tumor of breast: a clinicopathologic analysis

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinicopathologic characteristics,differential diagnosis,treatment and prognosis of breast periductal stromal tumors.Methods One case of breast periductal stromal tumor was evaluated in our hospital and a series of patients in Chinese and English literatures were reviewed,retrospectively.Results Microscopically,periductal stromal tumor was composed of spindle cells around single or multiple open ducts forming cuffs infiltrated into fat tissues.Immunohistochemistry showed that tumor cells were positive for vimentin and CD34,variably positive for CD10 and CD117,but negative for SMA,desmin and S-100.Conclusion Pcriductal stromal tumor is a rare malignant tumor of breast.It should be distinguhished from other tumors.The patient generally has a good prognosis with free margins after complete surgical excision.
