Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and significance of ER alpha and EZH2 in papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods The expression of ER alpha and EZH2 was detected by the EnVision immunohistochemical method in Paraffin-embedded specimen of 144 patients with thyroid papillary carcinoma. Results (1) The positive rate of ER alpha was 41% in PTC and 5% in the adjacent tissues, and the difference between them had statistical signifinance. The expression of ER alpha had associated with gender, lymph node metastasis, extratrothyroid recidivism and multiple focal growth (P <0.05),but it had no associated with age and mass size (P >0.05).(2) The positive rate of EZH2 was 30% in PTC and 3% in the adjacent tissues, and the difference between them had statistical signifinance. The expression of EZH2 had associated with lymph node metastasis, extratrothyroid recidivism and tumor multifocal growth (P < 0.05),but it had no associated with gender, age and mass size (P > 0.05).(3) The expression of ER alpha had positive associated with EZH2 (r =0.291,P < 0.05).Conclusions ER alpha and EZH2 may participated in the invasion and metastasis of thyroid papillary carcinoma. The detection of ER alpha and EZH2 can help to predict the risk of invasion and metastasis of PTC.Anti-estrogen therapy and treatment for EZH2 may become one of the new therapeutic approach for PTC.
