Abstract:Objective To study the clinicopathogic features and differential diagnosis of primary solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) in vulva. Methods The clinical data and pathologic characteristics of two cases of SFT in the vulva were analyzed, and the relevant literatures were reviewed. Results The age was 53 and 65 years, respectively. The lesions were well circumscribed and painless in subcutaneous, presented over the left labia majora and mons pubis. The diameter of the tumors were ranged from 3.5 to 4.5 cm (median 4 cm).Microscopically, the tumor exhibited a patternless arrangement of fibroblastic spindle cells in a hyalinized collagenous matrix and rich of scattered blood vessels, but no obvious hemangiopericytoma-like structure.Focally, myxoid appearance was in the stroma,no atypical mitoses and necrosis were observed.Immunohistochemically, the tumor spindle cells were positive for CD34,STAT6,CD99,bcl-2 and vimentin. All two cases with follow-up did not show any tumor recurrence or metastasis. Conclusions SFT is rare in vulva, and more rare with myxoid stromal change. The most patients show good prognosis.SFT expresses CD34 and STAT6 and needs to be distinguished from other spindle cell tumors.
