Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinicopathological features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of plasmacytoi durothelial carcinoma (PUC).Methods The clinicopathological and immunohistochemical expression were retrospectively analyzed in six cases of PUC with review of the literatures. Results Microscopically, the tumor cells of PUC were diffusely discohesive pattemless architecture. The tumor cells were medium in size and uniform in shape, with eccentric nuclei, indistinct nucleoli and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm.Immunohistochemically,6/6 cases showed immunoreactiviy to CD138,EMA,CK7,CK19;one case was positive for CK 20,and 1 of 2 cases studied was positive for HER2;while E-cadherin,LCA,CD79a,kappa/lambda and S-100 were all negative. Conclusion PUC is a rare urothelial carcinoma. It may be misdiagnosed due to the lack of characteristic clinical manifestations and endoscopic characteristics.Diagnosis and differential diagnosis should be made in combination with immunohistochemical staining and histologic examination.
