Pathogenetic features of nasal polyp

Abstract：Objective To investigate the features of nasal polyp in the last five years,and to enhance the knowledge of nasal polyp.Methods 2561 patients with nasal polyp in Beijing Tongren Hospital Affiliated of Capital Medical University from January 1st,2012 to December 31st,2016 were collected,and then the histopathologic features were analyzed.The incidence,gender,age,site,eosinophil infiltration and hemorrhagic necrotic nasal polyp were also analyzed.Results The number of patients with nasal polyp was increased from 2012 to 2016 in general.The number of male patients was larger than female;nevertheless,the age of male and female patients was similar.Most nasal polyps occurred bilaterally,single left polyps occurred less and the number of right site occurred was the least.The amount and proportion of eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyp patients decreased at first three years and increased subsequently;however,the eosinophilic infiltration was down regulated in the last year.Number of eosinophilic infiltration in male patients was larger than female,and proportion of eosinophil infiltration in male patients was also gradually increased as compared with that in female.Further research indicated that the amount of bilateral eosinophil infiltration was the most common in both male and female patients,followed by the single left infiltration.The number of right infiltration patients was the minimum.on the other hand,proportion of bilateral eosinophil infiltration was the most significant in both male and female patients.What was interesting was that proportion of right infiltration was less in male patients and the least in female patients.There were only a few of patients with hemorrhagic and necrotic nasal polyp,and studies indicated that lesions mostly occurred in antrum maxillare and nasal cavity.Conclusion Further investigation of nasal polyp in recent five years is benefit for its prevention and treatment.
