Abstract:Objective To explore the clinicopathological characteristic, immune profile, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of fibromatosis metaplastic breast carcinoma (FMBC).Methods Two cases of FMBC were studied with histopathological and immunohistochemical staining, and its clinical and pathological findings were analyzed with review of the literature. Results The patients (46 and 51 years old) all presented with palpable breast mass.Tumors were grossly well defined but had microscopic infiltrative borders, exhibiting a dominant bland fibromatosis-like or myofibroblastic-like growth pattern with prominent collagenization, small clusters of epithelioid cells and focal squamous differentiation may present.Tumor cells were positive for epithelial and myoepithelial markers, and negative for ER and PR.Intensity of HER2 staining was 1 + and 0 respectively. One patient developed local recurrence after mastectomy. No lymph node and distant metastases were reported. Conclusion FMBC is a rare type of breast metaplastic carcinoma, which is easy to be misdiagnosed. The prognosis of FMBC is better than other types of metaplastic carcinoma, with a tendency of local recurrence.
