Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical significance of heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70) and osteopontin (OPN) expression in thyroid cancer. Methods Samples of thyroid cancer tissue and normal thyroid peritumorial tissue were collected from 80 patients with thyroid cancer. The mRNA and protein expression of HSP 70 and OPN was determined by real time-polymerase chain reaction and Westen blot, and the relationship of clinical pathologic characteristic and mRNA/ protein expression of HSP 70 and OPN was analyzed. Results The mRNA and protein expression of HSP 70 and OPN in samples of thyroid cancer tissue were significantly increased compared with those in samples of normal thyroid peritumorial tissue (P < 0.01);The mRNA expression of HSP 70 and OPN was not related to age and gender (P > 0.05),but was related to pathological type, differentiated degree, neoplasm staging, capsular infiltration degree and lymphonodi cervicales metastasis in patients with thyroid cancer (P > 0.05).The protein expression of HSP 70 and OPN was not related to age and gender (P > 0.05),but was related to pathological type, differentiated degree, neoplasm staging, capsular infiltration degree and lymphonodi cervicales metastasis in patients with thyroid cancer (P > 0.05).Conclusion HSP 70 and OPN may participate in the occurrence and development of thyroid cancer, and involve in differentiation, infiltration and metastasis.
