Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical pathological features and immunophenotype of renal-type clear cell carcinoma(RTCCC) of the prostate and its diagnosis according to the example and review of the literatures. Methods One case of RTCCC of the prostate was observed and its features were analyzed with review of the litertures. Results Microscoppically, the tumor was composed of cells with abundant and translucent cytoplasm, arranged in vesicular nest appearance or solid trabecular or tubular form. So,it was necessary to distinguish with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and clear cell carcinoma of prostate.Immunohistochemical examination showed the tumor cells were positive for CKpan,LMWCK,EMA,PSA,P504S,PSMA and partly positive for vimentin and CD10.The tumor cells did not express HMWCK,CK7,CK34,Pax-8 and RCC.Conclusion The morphological and immunohistochemical features of the tumor comply with RTCCC of prostate. This tumor is a rare variant of the prostate carcinomas. To our knowledge, this type of extrarenal tumor has only been reported in seven other previous studies.Electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry, imaging and serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) are necessary for a correct diagnosis.
