Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of dendritic fibromyxolipoma (DFML).Methods Two cases of DFML occurred in abdominal cavity were collected with a detailed analysis of the clinical, pathological and immunohistochemical features and following-up.Results The two patients were male and aged 38 and 53 years, respectively.Grossly, the two masses were well-circumscribed and encapsulated with thin fibrous capsule.Their cut surface was yellowish to gray in color and myxoid in some areas.Microscopically, the tumor consisted of mature adipose, spindle or stellate cells, myxoid and fibrotic stroma with a variable proportion of mixture in different regions.Extended slender branching cytoplasmic processes were one of its morphological features of spindle cell or stellate cells. No cellular atypia and mitotic figures were observed.Immunohistochemically, spindle cells showed high expression of CD34,bcl-2 and vimentin, while no expression of desmin,SMA,CK and EMA was viewed. The index of Ki-67 was less than 1%.Conclusions DFML is a benign tumor with characteristic morphology and immunohistochemical phenotype contributing to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
