Abstract:Objective To compare the clinicopathologic characteristics of primary breast lymphomas with that of secondary breast lymphomas. Methods The clinicopathologic features of 15 cases of lymphoma involving the breast and their follow-up data were summarized.Their histological morphology and immune phenotypes were reviewed microscopically. Results 8 cases of primary lymphoma and 7 cases of secondary lymphoma were studied. The most common histological types were diffuse large B cell lymphoma, lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia and nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's lymphoma.Six cases were diagnosed by core needle biopsy,9 cases by excision biopsy, among which 6 cases were sent for intraoperative frozen section diagnosis. There was no significant difference between overall survival of primary group and that of secondary group (P > 0.05).Conclusions The clinical and image features of primary and secondary breast lymphoma mimic that of breast cancer. The infiltrating pattern and cellular morphology should be observed carefully to make differential diagnosis from invasive carcinoma in frozen section.
