Abstract:Objective To explore the expression of TTF-1 in chordoid glioma of the third ventricle tissues(CG3V) and its clinical significance. Methods Two cases with CG3V were diagnosed with the surgical pathology examination in the Department of Pathology,PLA General Hospital.ALL of cases were female. The patients were presented with headache, dizziness, vomiting and decreased visual acuity.Tumors were located in the third ventricle and the suprasellar region.Immunohistochemistry (SP method) was used to detect the expression of TTF-1 in 2 cases of CG3V tissues. Results Microscopically, the tumor was composed of epithelioid cells disposed in cords in a mucinous background with scattered lymphocytes and plasmocytes in the peripheral portion. No mitotic figures were observed.Russell body was observed in two cases.Rosenthal fibers were observed in one case.Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were stained positively for GFAP,CD34 and TTF-1,negatively for EMA.Conclusions TTF-1 is a useful marker for the diagnosis of CG3V and plays a potential transcription factor in the development of morphologically heterogeneous neoplasms in the third ventricular region.
