Primary granulocytic sarcoma of cervix: a clinicopathological analysis

Abstract:Objective To study the clinical and pathologic features,diagnosis,differential diagnosis,treatment and prognosis of granulocytic sarcoma of the uterine cervix.Methods The clinical manifestations,histopathological featrures,irmnunohistochemistry,treatment and prognosis were analyzed in one case of granulocytic sarcoma of the uterine cervix with review of the literatures.Results One case of granulocytic sarcoma presented bleeding as a primary symptom,cervical hypertrophy and qualitative hard.B ultrasound prompted the cervix has a size of 2.5 cm x 1.7 cm low echo mass.Microscopically,the malignant cells grew in a diffuse pattern and composed of lymphoid cells.Tumor ceils were small to medium in size.The nuclei were round and oval.The mitotic rates were visible.Histochemical stains for CD45,MPO,CD43,lysozyme and CD68 were positive.the proliferation index of Ki-67 was 70%.There was no acute myeloid leukemia in bone marrow and peripheral blood.Conclusions Granulocytic sarcoma of the uterine cervix is rare.In initial diagnosis,granulocytic sarcoma may be misdiagnosed as malignant lymphoma and small cell carcinoma;the diagnosis and differential diagnosis are based on immunohistochemical examination.
