Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features of breast pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) during pregnancy and its diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.Method We retrospectively studied the clinical and pathological data of a case of PASH during pregnancy with literature review. Results PASH forming single solid tumors was very rare cases. The patient in our case was a 17 years old female. The breast tumor enlarged rapidly during pregnancy, and significantly reduced after abortion. The tumor size continuously increased again during another pregnancy in a short time.Sarcoma could not be ruled out clinically. The result of the core biopsy suggested a benign mesenchymal tumor. The patient underwent a tumor resection when she was 4 months' pregnant.Pathological examination showed the characteristic crack-like hollow space in the breast stroma, shaping of irregular vessel lumens, and lined with discontinuous spindle cells without cellular atypia. There was no recurrence in a 36 months' follow-up.Conclusion Cases of PASH characterized as rapid increasing breast mass during pregnancy are very rare.Diagnosis of the disease depends on histopathologic examination and immunohistochemical results.Surgical resection of the tumor is a major treatment. The prognosis is favorable.
