Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of different airflow patterns and humidification levels on comfort and airway mucosal injury in ICU patients with tracheotomy. Methods A total of 96 ICU tracheotomy patients admitted between January 2022 and January 2025 were selected as subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group(48 cases)and a control group(48 cases)using a random number table method. The control group received conventional airflow mode(continuous flow)with medium humidification level(60%-70%)for airway management, while the observation group received individually adjusted airflow patterns(e.g.,dual-level flow, adaptive flow)and humidification levels(70%-85%)based on patient conditions.Comparison was made on indicators including comfort scores, incidence of airway mucosal injury, sputum viscosity, and airway resistance. Results The observation group showed superior outcomes compared to the control group in comfort scores, sputum viscosity, and airway resistance(P<0.05).The incidence of airway mucosal injury in the observation group was 8.33%,which is significantly lower than the control group's 27.08%(P<0.05).Conclusion Individualized adjustment of airflow patterns and humidification levels can effectively enhance comfort in ICU patients with tracheotomy, reduce airway mucosal damage, improve airway management outcomes, demonstrating significant clinical value.
