Abstract:Objective This study aimed to investigate the clinical therapeutic effects and mechanisms of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)therapy in patients with pulmonary air embolism(PAE),so as to provide evidence-based guidance and practical reference for the early clinical management of PAE patients. Methods The patient diagnosed through multidisciplinary consultation upon admission was urgently underwent hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)therapy for air embolism.Following the HBO session, comprehensive interventions such as fluid resuscitation support and close monitoring of vital signs were administered. Results After a single session of HBO therapy, the patient's symptoms, including chest tightness, shortness of breath, and dizziness, were completely relieved. The following pulmonary CT angiography revealed complete resolution of air bubbles in the pulmonary arteries, right atrium, and right ventricle.During one-month follow-up period, the patient did not exhibit any sequelae or abnormal manifestations. Conclusion HBO therapy can rapidly reduce and eliminate air bubble obstruction, thereby improving tissue hypoxia. It demonstrated definitive efficacy in the early treatment of PAE,and when combined with multidisciplinary collaboration and comprehensive interventions, significantly enhanced patient's prognosis.
