Abstract:Objective This study aimed to explore the therapeutic potential and clinical utility of electromyographic biofeedback combined with resistance training in the rehabilitation of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods Sixty children with spastic cerebral palsy admitted to Xuzhou Medical University Affiliated Hospital from February 2022 to February 2025 were randomly divided into observation and control groups, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received routine rehabilitation training combined with electromyographic biofeedback therapy, while the observation group received resistance training on the basis of the control group's treatment. We compared the improvement of gross motor function, walking endurance and energy expenditure, balance ability and daily living ability between two groups of patients. Results Before treatment, there was no significant difference in Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM)scores between the two groups of patients in different regions(P>0.05);After treatment, the scores of both groups significantly increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in walking endurance(6 min and 10 min walking tests)and physiological cost index(PCI)between the two groups(P>0.05);After treatment, the observation group showed markedly better walking endurance at 6 and 10 minutes and PCI than the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the scores of balance capacity and activities of daily living(ADL)between the two groups(P>0.05);After treatment, the scores of both groups improved, and the observation group was notably higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of electromyographic biofeedback combined with resistance training program proved to be highly effective in the treatment of pediatric patients with spastic cerebral palsy, which can significantly enhance gross motor function, walking endurance(with improved energy efficiency),balance capacity and activities of daily living, contributing to superior clinical recovery and warranting broader clinical application.
