Abstract:Objective To evaluate the impact of gas-producing powder on gastric wall distension, mucosal clarity, and lesion detection rate in double-contrast radiography of the upper gastrointestinal tract, and to assess its clinical application value. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from 120 patients who underwent upper gastrointestinal X-ray radiography at our hospital from January 2022 to December 2024.According to whether gas-producing powder was used or not, patients were divided into an observation group(90 cases, using gas-producing powder)and a control group(30 cases, not using gas-producing powder due to contraindications). The excellent/good rates of dilation in the gastric fundus, body, and antrum, display clarity of gastric mucosal folds, and detection rate of minute lesions were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group exhibited significantly higher excellent/good rates of dilation in the gastric fundus(95.6%),body(93.3%),and antrum(92.2%)compared to the control group(73.3%,70.0%,and 70.0%,respectively),with statistical significance(P<0.05).The excellent/good rate for mucosal image clarity was 96.7%in the observation group versus 76.7%in the control group(P<0.05).Furthermore,the detection rate of minute lesions(diameter<0.5 cm)was significantly higher in the observation group(90.0%)than that in the control group(66.7%),with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of gas-producing powder in double-contrast radiography of the upper gastrointestinal tract safely and effectively achieves adequate gastric dilation, significantly enhances display quality of gastric mucosal details, and improves diagnostic accuracy for minute and early-stage lesions, demonstrating high clinical value for widespread adoption.
