Importance of maintenance and service in the lifecycle management of medical gas systems

Abstract：As a life support system in medical facilities,the medical gas system requires meticulous management throughout its entire life cycle,from design,procurement,installation and commissioning,operation,maintenance,verification and testing to improvement,to ensure the safe use of gas for patients.Maintenance and service,as one of the crucial parts,play a vital role in the normal operation of the entire system after installation.This article discusses the qualification requirements for medical gas system maintenance personnel as stipulated in the American ASSE6040 standard and maintenance requirement in the latest version of NFPA99-2024,the current situation of maintenance management in Chinese medical facilities,and through case analysis,elaborates on the significance of hospital equipment management and offers suggestions for improvement.
