Clinical efficacy and safety of early hyperbaric oxygen combined with methylprednisolone in the treatment of acute myelitis

Abstract：Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of early hyperbaric oxygen combined with methylprednisolone in the treatment of acute myelitis.Methods:The study subjects were 40 patients with acute myelitis admitted to Gaozhou People's Hospital,whose enrollment time was from May 2019 to April 2025.The patients were divided into control group and treatment group by random number table method.The control group received methylprednisolone treatment,and the treatment group received early hyperbaric oxygen treatment on the basis of the control group.The intervention effects of the two groups were compared.Results:After different treatment interventions,the clinical effect of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the ASIA sensory score and ASIA motor score of the two groups were increased to varying degrees,while the levels of CRP,IL-6 and TNF-α were decreased to some extent.The ASIA sensory score and ASIA motor score were higher but the levels of CRP,IL-6 and TNF-α were lower in the treatment group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,urination recovery,sphincter function recovery,limb muscle strength recovery above grade 2,and independent walking time in the treatment group were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the treatment group and the control group during the treatment period(P>0.05).Conclusion:On the basis of methylprednisolone treatment,early hyperbaric oxygen intervention in patients with acute myelitis has a definite therapeutic effect,which can improve the motor function and sensory function of patients,shorten the recovery time of urination and sphincter function of patients,shorten the course of the disease,prevent the deterioration of the disease,effectively reduce the disability rate,reduce the cost of hospitalization,and improve the quality of life of patients without increasing additional adverse reactions.The application safety is high,the effect of combined therapy is better than that of single therapy,and it is recommended to be promoted and applied in clinical practice.
