Abstract:Objective:To investigate the value of end-expiratory carbon dioxide collection nasal oxygen tube in safety assurance after extubation under general anesthesia. Methods:A total of 200 patients who underwent extubation under general anesthesia in our hospital from June 2023 to March 2024 were selected as the research subjects. The occurrence of respiratory depression was determined by their breathing movements of the chest and abdomen, respiratory frequency, respiratory sound or end-expiratory carbon dioxide, and blood oxygen saturation.Clinical treatment was performed to compare the respiratory frequency,end-expiratory partial pressure level of carbon dioxide, and blood oxygen saturation of patients with respiratory depression and normal patients at different time points. Results:During the induction period before anesthesia, immediately after extubation, and 30 min after extubation, there were statistically significant differences in respiratory frequency,end-expiratory partial pressure level of carbon dioxide, and blood oxygen saturation among 200 patients(P<0.05).A total of 33 cases of respiratory depression occurred in 200 patients, and 167 cases were normal patients. There were statistically significant differences in respiratory frequency,end-expiratory partial pressure level of carbon dioxide, and blood oxygen saturation between the two groups before treatment(P<0.05),but after treatment, there were statistically significant differences in the levels of various indicators between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:End-expiratory carbon dioxide monitoring using end-expiratory carbon dioxide collection nasal oxygen tube can timely detect respiratory depression and guide clinical treatment outcomes, relieve respiratory depression in time, and ensure patient safety.
