Design and application of day surgery centers

Abstract：The development of day surgery has changed the traditional mode of scheduled surgery for some minor and medium-sized surgeries,significantly reduced the average length of hospital stay for surgical patients in general hospitals,and alleviated the shortage of hospital bed resources.Various regions have actively responded to the national call,vigorously developing day surgery.How to plan and construct a day surgery center,which includes two major functional modules of day wards and day operating rooms,has become an important issue in the development of general hospitals.The design work to a certain extent determines the operational capacity and efficiency of day surgery in hospitals.Currently,the design of day surgery centers in China is facing many challenges:① There are obvious differences between day surgery clinics in Europe and America and day surgery centers in China,so their design concepts and operational strategies cannot be simply copied and applied.② Ch ina lacks design norms and construction experience for reference,and the design methods are conservative.Blindly copying clean operating rooms is a common phenomenon,and related research is relatively backward.This article briefly introduces the development of day surgery centers,as well as their characteristics and forms,analyzes individual design cases,summarizes the existing problems in the design,and proposes some design ideas for reference.
