Abstract:Objective To predict the role of the mitochondrial solute carrier SLC25A26 in pan-cancer by mining public databases and applying bioinformatics methods. Methods Clinical data of cancer patients were obtained from the TCGA database.A systematic analysis was conducted to examine the correlation between SLC25A26 expression and common cancers from five aspects:gene expression level, clinical stage, patient prognosis, gene mutation characteristics, and immune infiltration level.Multiplex immunofluorescence staining was used to validate its expression in clinical samples of gastric adenocarcinoma. Results SLC25A26 was differentially expressed in 12 common cancers(P<0.01),including various gastrointestinal tumors. Its expression changes could be detected in the early stages of tumors, suggesting its potential as a tumor biomarker, though its value for monitoring disease progression is limited.Prognostic analysis in most cancer types was consistent with tissue expression results, requiring further validation of the underlying mechanisms through basic experiments. In kidney renal clear cell carcinoma and head and neck cancer, multiple immune prediction algorithms indicated a correlation between SLC25A26 and immune infiltration(P<0.05),suggesting its involvement in the regulation of the tumor immune microenvironment. Conclusion SLC25A26 is involved in the pathogenesis and immunomodulatory processes of multiple cancers, demonstrating potential as a biomarker for early screening in pan-cancer.
