Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of perception of social support and psychological capital between boredom proneness and meaning in life among military personnel in dispersed remote areas. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 507 military personnel in dispersed remote troops using Short Boredom Proneness Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale,Meaning in Life Questionnaire, and Psychological Capital Questionnaire. The data were screened and SPSS was used for descriptive statistics and correlation regression analysis. Results Boredom proneness significantly negatively predicted the meaning in life.Boredom proneness could indirectly affect the meaning in life through perception of social support and psychological capital respectively.Boredom proneness could affect the meaning in life through the chain mediation of perception of social support and psychological capital.Furthermore, the direct effect of boredom proneness on the meaning in life was not significant after the addition of mediation, indicating that the mediation effect was a complete mediation effect. Conclusion After controlling for covariates, psychological capital and perception of social support play a complete chain mediating role between boredom proneness and meaning in life.
