Abstract:Combat-related traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of disability and mortality in modern warfare.Seawater immersion traumatic brain injury(sTBI),as a special type of composite injury, results from the combined effects of mechanical brain trauma and the physicochemical and biological impacts of seawater immersion.Seawater, rich in minerals and diverse microorganisms, can exert persistent adverse effects on wounds, hindering the normal tissue repair process.Among these factors, pathogenic microorganisms in seawater(such as Vibrio vulnificus)are prone to causing secondary infections, which not only delay wound healing and exacerbate inflammatory responses but also significantly increase the complexity of clinical treatment. Therefore, accurate identification and effective management of microbial infections associated with sTBI have become crucial for improving diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes.Currently, systematically reviewing and thoroughly investigating the common pathogenic microorganisms and diagnostic techniques for intracranial infections following sTBI is of great clinical significance for enhancing the management and survival rates of such combat-related injuries.
