Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression characteristics of CD55 in thymic squamous cell carcinoma(TSCC)tissues and analyze its correlations with clinicopathological parameters and patient outcomes. Methods Fifty-one cases of TSCC were retrospectively selected, the expression levels of CD55 were detected by immunohistochemistry(IHC),and the relationship between CD55 and clinicopathological features and prognosis was analyzed. Results The median follow-up time of 51 patients with TSCC was 33.50 months,of which 23 patients occurred disease progression.IHC test results showed that CD55 was widely expressed in TSCC tissues and mainly localized on the cell membrane.Univariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis identified that CD55(HR=11.204,95%CI:3.235-38.808,P<0.001),Masaoka-Koga stage(HR=50.000,95%CI:1.134-2 205.326,P=0.043),and complete tumor resection(HR=3.384,95%CI:1.425-8.037,P=0.006)were important factors influencing progression-free survival(PFS).Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis confirmed that CD55(HR=11.142,95%CI:3.156-39.330,P<0.001)and complete tumor resection(HR=3.105,95%CI:1.258-7.665,P=0.014)were independent prognostic factors affecting PFS.Correlation analysis further demonstrated that there was a significant positive relationship between CD55 expression and Masaoka-Koga stage(r=0.461,P<0.001).Conclusion The high expression of CD55 is associated with poor prognosis of TSCC,suggesting that CD55 may be used as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.
