Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of Kirschner wire hook-and-lock fixation in the treatment of tendinous mallet finger. Methods The clinical data of 73 patients with tendinous mallet fingers who received Kirschner wire hook-and-lock fixation in the Department of Orthopedics,Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital,School of Medicine,Westlake University from January 2019 to February 2025 were analyzed retrospectively.Six weeks after operation, the Kirschner wire was removed and the patients were followed up,and the recovery of finger function was evaluated by Crawford's criteria. The excellent and good rate, complications and active range of motion(ROM)before and after operation were analyzed. Results Among the patients,43 cases were excellent,24 cases were good and 6 cases were fair. The excellent and good rate was 91.78%.All patients in this study were followed up for 4 months or more, and the surgical incisions healed well.No postoperative pain, infection, abnormal nail shape, loosening or breaking of Kirschner wire and other complications occurred.Compared with before operation, the active extension limitation of the patients decreased after operation, while their active ROM increased, with statistically significant significance(t=36.955,35.074,P<0.05).Conclusion Kirschner wire hook-and-lock fixation can improve the ROM of patients with tendinous mallet fingers, with remarkable curative effect and good safety.
