Incidence and risk factors of neck and low back pain among Air Force personnel of Western Theater Command

Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of neck and low back pain among Air Force personnel of Western Theater Command and analyze its related influencing factors.Methods A total of 1 795 Air Force personnel stationed in Xinjiang and Xizang were investigated.Their general information,neck and low back pain related information and living habits were collected.Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were used to analyze the related influencing factors of neck and low back pain.Results The prevalence rates of neck pain and low back pain were 53.93%and 74.15%,respectively,among which 62.05%did not receive relevant medical examination.Relevant univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age,time-in-service,BMI,physical assessment scores,average daily usage time of handheld electronic devices and sleep duration were related factors to the prevalence of neck and low back pain.Conclusion Air Force personnel of Western Theater Command have a high incidence of neck and low back pain,so they should be guided to organize scientific training,enhance their awareness of prevention,and provide convenient medical conditions for them.
