Research progress on information impairment in China from 2003 to 2023—visual analysis based on CiteSpace

Abstract:Objective To further understand the current research status of information impairment by using CiteSpace software for research hotspots and development trends,so as to provide references for better psychological defense and attack in war.Methods CiteSpace software was used to retrieve information impairment-related articles in the CNKI database over the past two decades,and bibliometric analysis was carried out to visually display the content of countries,institutions,and keywords.Results After screening,a total of 1 250 articles from 2003 to 2023 were included,revealing a growing trend in the quantity of literature.The quality of journals and quantity of published articles collectively reflected the overall high level of research in this field.The National University of Defense Technology and the National Defence University dominated the field.The research focused on psychological warfare,network warfare,propaganda warfare,and information warfare,while trends evolved with a growing emphasis on network information dissemination and artificial intelligence.With the change in the international situation,there have been more studies on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and cognitive domain warfare in recent years.Conclusion The study of information impairment has been paid more and more attention in China.Information impairment has been gradually involved in information and cognitive domain combat from the traditional psychological domain combat.It plays a tremendous role in war and confrontation with various countries.
